Bigger RAM or Better Processor

I'm wondering which one is better for multitasking. I'm about to sell my laptop which is an Intel Centrino1.6ghz with 40gb memory and 256 RAM. Someone is selling a Centrino Duo 2060 1.7ghz with 512 RAM. Ofcourse the new one is better right? But I'm thinking about Multitasking and being able to pop-up Adobe Photoshop CS3 at the same time with my other windows. Is it better to have a bigger RAM or a Better processor for multitasking. How do I push my laptop to its Multitasking limits?

I guess U need to get Better processor.CS3 can't consume more than 128Mb of RAM which is quite afordable.but u need at least Pentium centrino.try upgrading to my suggestions

On small projects, no it does not consume much, but try to do some real work with photoshop and you surely notice that you do need alot of RAM...

That is a tough one, more space or better processing. If I had to select one and only one, I would go with the processor. Processor determines what you can do and how well you can do it....space is just that space, you can always get around space if you need to - you just have to be creative.

but i think the 256 ram is too small to run some big software such as the photoshop. and the processor is enough to do this job. so maybe she should first increase the capaticy of the ram. ram is not the space you mean

I would say Processor & RAM is 2 sides of one coin, both are necessary, i mean high speed processor + high ram for smooth working of our PC. I wouldlike to suggest you buy Intel Duel Core processor + 512 mb ram, & dont forget to keep Intel original motherboard, this is nice combination, any software can use with this. Intel duel core is very good haing multi tasking, multi threading, networking support.

I suggest both but it would be better if you have higher ram than processor if you are using your computer for business or internet surfing and other medias.

just buy more ram, for your pc. the difference between 1.6 and 1.7 is negligible.

RAM, no doubt, specially when talking about such small ammounts. I work some heavy load excel spreadsheets and also some decent projects with other programs on several computers, diferent processors and diferent RAM ammounts and I can tell you that I notice a HUGE diference from 512 RAM to 1Gb RAM (so much that I am upgrading all pcs to 1GB without second thoughts). I work way better on computers with more ram and less cpu clock then the other way around. It does depend on other factors though. RAM clock speed, CPU core clock speed, HDD rpm, etc etc... But if you ask me to choose from a "small" upgrade on CPU or RAM, I would go for RAM, no doubt (unless with already 2GB RAM, and 1GB RAM on some cases).
