Have you ever had a pen pal? I am remembering a pen pal I had from California. She always seemed so exotic to me. Maybe because the Brady Bunch were from California. Her name was Dana and her siblings had interesting names: Coco, Jojo....something like that. Wonder what she is doing now?

Thanks for telling that today is the Penpal day. I have had many penpals for several years when I was in school and college. They were from all over the world and it was great to correspond with them through letters. It gave a very nice feeling to hear from someone living so far off. There were so many things we could talk about and learn. It was a great experience.

Growing up I lived in a large city. Back then neighbors socialized and spoke across the fence. They had a relative come to visit and we struck up conversation. We enjoyed each others company. The relative went back to where he was living for the time. He was a preacher, preaching in Africa, Lesotho to be exact. We were pen pals for a long time. We sent packages to him to share with the kids... remember lawn darts. Those were popular with them. I always look forward to the tissue paper type envelope that was opened on the dotted lines and reveal the message inside. I miss him and those days.

Yes, I had a pen pal when I was younger...it was a class project when I was in 5th grade...we shared letters back and forth for a couple of years.... I think that it was good for us and found it enjoyable at the time....

I've heard of pen pals, however never had one. I always wanted to when I was in school too, it would have been nice to talk to someone from somewhere else.

I never had a pen pal... and I've always wanted one. But I guess using pen and paper to write someone isn't something people do these days. It would've been cool to be able to write someone from somewhere far away. It's more exciting to actually hold in your hands a hard copy, personally written letter. And waiting for mail to arrive is really exciting.

air mail envelope - Air mail envelope to send letters lightweight to different countries. A necessity if one has pen pals! these letters are a lot faster than sending per boat.
When I was a teenager I had several penpals all over the world and I loved to get these red and blue airmail envelopes. The stationnary was very thin and sometimes there was a photo in the letter. I wrote many letters back and discovered the world via air mail. Mylot reminds me of these days, I meet many people worldwide and make friends and learn about their lives just like way back when.
