Are Americans Superior??

I have heard from a few buddies that Americans always come over as superior. By this I mean when chatting and communicating they seem to assume that they are superior to people from another country and that they know best about stuff. I have been to the U.S.A. and the people who I met were never like that. They were all just normal and very much the same as the guys back home here.I never found them to act superior, but that was just a small group. What are your views?
