Lets see if I can answer this for you. Let us begin with explanations.
OCCULT: The word occult comes from the Latin occultus (clandestine, hidden, secret), referring to "knowledge of the hidden". In the medical sense it is used commonly to refer to a structure or process that is hidden, e.g. an "occult bleed."
PARANORMAL: According to the Journal of Parapsychology, the term paranormal describes "any phenomenon that in one or more respects exceeds the limits of what is deemed physically possible according to current scientific assumptions."
So this is the difference between them. Where they blend is when there is knowledge about the paranormal it is considered as "OCCULT KNOWLEDGE" Another intersection is when paranormal activity arises from occult practices.
Study, knowledge, wisdom, practice, ect.... are all totaly occult. Hauntings, Ghosts, etc.... are all totally paranormal.
I hope that this has answered your questions. Have a great day!!
