TB: Have you been tested?

Since Andrew Speaker came forward to talk about his unusual case of drug-resistant Tuberculosis, it makes me wonder how many people get tested regularly. Tuberculosis, or TB, is a pandemic that is hitting all cultures and socio-economic groups, old and young. My own son has tested positive, but thankfully, it is latent and he would probably never had gotten it, but is taking the medication any way just to ensure that never happens. What would you do if you found out if you tested positive? Testing for TB is free and the medication is very low cost. Personally, I think more money should be invested in developing more up-to-date drugs, but because it is a disease that is associated with those who are poverty stricken, it has gotten very little funding. Perhaps now that Andrew Speaker, a globe-trotting lawyer, has come forward, maybe now people will begin to see that even they are at risk.
