I usually sweep up the floor then use a swiffer to mop it. I like it because it does pick up left over dirt, etc, and disinfects really well. I have a little dog who is old and tends to drop food on the floor because she has no front teeth, and the swiffer helps keep the kitchen from smelling like dog food, too. :) It cleans up messes really well.

Just to let you know I read an article that the swifter cleaning junk was bad for animals. Dont ask me why... but I just get the good old fashion mop and bucket out now. Cus if its bad for a dog then it is not that great for my kid either. But I know a ton of people who use it and never had a problem with it... so dont freak out!

I have heard that, too. And even after reading another statement that it does not cause problems, I am very cautious. I know dogs paw pads are very absorbent and it could never be good for them to get those cleaning chemicals into their little bodies. I kinda feel the same way about other cleaning agents, though, as well. My solution is just keeping the dog off of the floor until it has dried. And really, whatever I was using, I would do that, as I am sure you do with your child as well. My husband and I are talking about trying to have a child during his next assignment and as finicky as I am over my dog, I know I will be 1000x worse over the baby! But right now, she is the only baby I have so I have to treat her like one. :D

I don't actually mop my floor because I don't find it does a good enough job . I ususally get down on my hands and knees and scrub with a rag and use different cleaners but would have to say the one I like the best is the Mr. Clean . I find that when you mop the floor is only swishes the dirt around and doesn't actually life it off the floor so only do this when I am in a big hurry and want to get up something that is sticky from the children spilling something on it .

I do a good scrub like that about every 2 months... other then that i get the mop and bucket and go to town. well I dont really see dirt being moved around. I mop it pretty well, one section at a time and rinse the mop out all the time. but i do see where you want your floor to be CLEAN!
