Who kidnapped the pope and moved the papacy to France?

I see many like Trivia, I thought I would type a bunch of triva questions up from some of my old school notes. So who knows the answer? He/she/y who does will recieve best responce. - DNatureofDTrain

Hmmm, I don't know about being kidnapped, but the papacy moved to Avignon, France in 1309 at the promptings of King Philip IV (Philip the Fair). The first pope in Avignon was Clement V, a French cardinal. The papacy remained in France until 1377.
