The frontman, the vocalist, one who sings for the band. Whatever you call it, it is one. Now, why do you think they are more famous than the rest of the band? They have this mass appeal that everybody loves just like my gee he he! Is it because they are the one expressing the song, one singing the song that's why they have a bonus point in an instant? Yeah drummers also rock our world's but the voice of the frontman is the music we always hear when listening to their songs. What do you think huh?

Hi, mskzalameda. I didn't respond to your previous discussion because I'm not familiar with Gerald, LOL! I did observe that the vocalist tend to attract greater mass appeal than the rest of the group. It may be their voice that the fans kept hearing while the others are pitching in a few notes only. They also get more exposure with the TV centering on them while singing.

True very True!!!!!!! i think it because the leader of the band is in the front and the leader is the person your going see alot. So people will look at he/she the most.Even when taking pictures the leader will be in the front. When doing interviews the leader will be in the front.

it is true that seemingly the leader of the band is the singer always. even in interview, we can observe that most of the attention is geared at the singer. it is as though it is the singer that has spelled success for teh group.

yes the leader is always the one, the people wants to hear when in ambush interviews ha ha! because they are more familiar with the singer than the other members of the band right? you wouldn't explore more of the other members if you don't like their song enough so, just as you know the name of the leader, it is like, you know the rest of the band.

I remember a band where the drummer was the coolest. So that is not always the case. Also the lead singer may not speak for the band since they could have a major case of shyness which is only overcome on stage. Fallout Boy whose lead singer tends to have less of a role that his guitarist and back up vocals do. At least in the public eye. Coheed and Cambria, they all get equal attention. Per the degree they agree upon for promotional purposes. So again it all depends.

It's the singer who projects the words with a passion all of his own. If he's given good words to sing, then he will gain the greatest appeal. That's not to say that some guitarists don't warrant as much attention, because some of them can put more drama and passion into a song than the singer himself.

yes I think some guitarists and drummers outshine the vocalist ha ha just like fall out boy, pete wentz. :)

I think it is because the singer is the most noticable in a band. Most often it is the singer that sets a band apart from the rest. They always get the most time and attention by TV, papers and magazines as well. They are the ones that delivers the majority of the bands message

In my opinion, I find the conductor of the band has greatest appeal of all in the band. If there is no conductor, the drummer is the one I find most appealing. This is because these are the ones who conducts the whole "concert". The singer only sings along to the tune played by the band.

Ozzy Osbourne - Ozzy Osbourne Singing
Most bands usually are more identified with their vocalist more than other members of the band. But usually it really depends on who exudes more charisma during a performance. Ozzy Osbourne is rocks' greatest vocalist because of his charisma and contribution to metal/rock music. There won't be a My Chemical Romance if not for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

Most of the times they do get the attention and most of the credit, because they have to give more passion and life to songs they sing. There are also great singers who get to compose/write great songs, and with this talent, they'll all go a long way. Charisma is also important, because it is important for the fans to know/see what they project on and off the stage. There's more than just belting out songs, and pleasing the fans. Without having all of these, they won't make it to the scene.

this is because he is the one who is doing the front act. everyone's attention is brought to the way how the singer perfroms on stage rather than on anyone else. everyone hears his voice float in the air and see him act right there. it was different with ringo starr of the beatles, though, he was an attention getter drummer. so far, it is only ringo starr who has ever achieved this. i mean, none at all that i have known of to have achieved this along with him.

i am a singer of a band since i was 17 and i disagree on what you said. we singers are quite popular with the crowd coz thats are job to make sure they will listen and we are the one talking to them interacting with them. BUT when it comes to popularity we are all the same. and some are more popular specially when they are approachable and handsome/beautiful. i dont want to say that i as the singer gets all the credit we work as a group.

I only notice actually the vocalist of the bands and I only identify the bands through their vocalist. I don't usually notice the others unless they are better looking than the vocalist which in most cases they are not. he he he! The star appeal of the vocalist of the band has a big part of making the band famous. Look at Hale. Can you honestly say that you could recognize the other band members? I just recognize really their very cute vocalist. The same with Bamboo, though I don't find bamboo that cute.

yes I can for I love hale too ha ha. well, I first liked the vocalist since he is cute. Hale is Champ (vocals), Omnie (drums), Sheldon (guitars), and of course the big Roll he he. well, on Bamboo, I only know Bamboo and the cute guitarist Ira he he!

I think there are several factors to be considered. In a band things that affect popularity are the singing skills, or the playing skills, the good looks and luck as well. In The Beatles, the original drummer Pete Best had gained a lot of popularity because of his drumming skills, although drummer is always behind.

Most often that is the appeal of the band itself. The person who is most outrageous or best looking or best singing voice, is the front man of the band and they bring the fans and the appeal to listen to their music. In my experience, I have found that I like the guys in the back lol!

I used to be in love with the drummers. I dated a drummer for a garage band when I first got out of high school. he drove a cool mustang, worked at night, his band would play in a storage facility, they stored their equipment there and they would play there at night for practice. I thought it was so cool. We broke up eventually and I ended up marrying someone else, but those were very good memories.

I think the frontman as you call it is the one that garners the most attention, maybe because he is good looking or energetic or has some unusual on stage habits. Getting the initial attention is the first step in becoming popular. Once the band is popular I think the attention spreads around all the members, some will like the drummmer some the singer some the guitarist. It evens out but you have to have the attention getter.

yeah, some frontman just get those popularity because they are handsome and voice not really counts and that is the sad part about it.

musical parrot - music notes and a parot
I think most of the time you only even notice the lead singer. Like the previous No Doubt, I only really paid attention to Gwen. And it happens to most bands, don't know why but it's like you forget the others are there sometimes, sure you might notice them if they play a real good solo part but still the attention seems to get focused on the lead. I don't tend to notice the other members unfortunately:(
