I was watching a show last night and it was talking about people collecting bottles. It was really quite interesting in how the people would go about finding these old bottles and some of them are really valuable. I got so interesed that I started reading blogs about collections. I found people collecting all kinds of things. Like bottle caps and matchbooks. I just wondered how many here have a collection, what it is and how you got started collecting it?

I don't really collect anything per say. I used to collect coins, but I stopped that many years ago. I embarked on stamp collecting but it was not the most interesting to me. I even collected shells for awhile. I have such a short attention span I can't continue doing something for too long, or I will lose interest in it, lol!

Finding big shells is not too easy that is for sure. i lived near the beach and would go often in the mornings early and search the beach for them. My daughter loved to do that when she was little, we had quite a nice collection of pink conch shells. I used to tell her you could hear the beach inside the shells and she would walk around for awhile with it to her ear saying she didn't hear anything, so she would go pick another one and walk around with that one, and think that one was defective too. hhahahah! It kept her busy!

Oh, I started a collection of shells once too. But, then I couldn't find any big enough to really be pretty. My neighbor has some nice ones that she has used to landscape an area by her pool.

I love to collect things. My children tried to get me to collect shot glasses, but I could never get into it, I guess cause I associate the shot glass with something that I might use, which is never. Nowdays I collect crystal pieces and cookbooks.

I started collecting dragons quite a few years ago now and then expanded into gargoyles too. My house is full of them, ranging from the little pocket dragons to a five feet tall stone dragon. I have always loved dragons and other wierd creatures but I think I may well have to start thinking about reducing the collection as it has taken over the house.

I have a collection of wolf nicknacks and statues. i also have framed pictures and stuffed animals. Anything that i came across when i was 16-19 years old that had to do with wolves i scarfed up. I dont know if any has any value or not but i like them and enjoy collecting them. I really havent gotten any new ones for some time and right now they are in a storage box in the closet because there are too many little fingers about and they would get broke.

Wolfs are a good idea. I bet some of them are worth something. And the longer you keep them the more valuable they will be.

I collect perfume bottles, empty or full. I got started about 10 years ago, when I bought a set of Este Lauder minature perfume set. I just like all the unique shapes the botttles come in. I also collect miniature trinket boxes. Not for sure when I started doing this, I just like the different shapes they come in, and seem to be delicate.

Hello, i used to collect stamps in different countries through the letters I have received (since email wasn't possible that time). I was just disapponted when my maid stole the other one that's why I get discouraged and only few people send letters nowadays. I also collect coins and paper money from other countries and I try to find out the history of their currency. Now, I'm proud to say I'm collecting friends and that's one thing I'm proud of. Do I really need to stress how I had many friends? I don't really consider them a collection but a bunch that I can always rely on.

Hi,Sherry12! I like collecting stamps, but not the used stamps,I mean the new one. My grandma and my papa are interesting in collecting stamps and I also join with them.I prefer the stamps with cartoon pictures and the foreign stamps. They are exotic and quite different from Chinese stamps.

I like collecting cards especially for those cards of internet bars. They are too beautiful to throw them away, so I have over 100 cards of internet bars. And I pay lots of money on them. My friend often say that I'm a stupid girl, they think there is no real value about the cards, becaues the internet bars will suddenly disappear someday. And then, I can't use it. But I like them very much, I like cartoons pictures very much. I don't like real flowers, fish, grass, and animals, I just like those untouble things, such as angels.

I collect owls. I look like an owl, especially when I wear glasses. The family joke is to ask me "How many licks does it take to get to the middle of a Tootsie Roll Pop?" It's still funny and good because Tootsie Roll Pops helped me quit smoking. Being reminded is nice. :-) I have over 100 owl themed items. My most precious is an owl carved out of Baltic amber. Giving me owls for any occasion is always appropriate.
