What would you do if zombies took over the world

I've wondered this myself, often. I'd most likely take up a roaming nomadic existence for a year or so, looting random food and weapon stores, while stockpiling for a trip with my followers to a deserted (obviously) sea port. I'd take any remaining sea worthy boats and attempt to navigate to an island with a very low population density, and after cleaning all the rotters out we'd set up camp for a few decades, while we waited for the zombie plague to burn out. This all precludes that every single thing went our way.

That sounds like a really good plan, with the low populated island. Would it be a tropical island or a freezing cold island? I really think I'd stay put where I was (out in the country). The property where I live has about 3-4 fences and like 5 gates because a lot of us around here has cows and horses. I think we'd be pretty safe despite the hundreds of people in the surrounding towns. I wouldn't chance leaving the house because of risk with gridlocked vehicles and stuff.

You do have a good point about the gridlocked vehicles. The fences and all would be a really good first start, but you'd definitely need to upgrade and fortify those a little. As long as some random groups of refugees doesn't happen by, or roving bandits, you should probably be able to hold off a few dozen zombies at a time. Out in the country is the next best thing i'd think, to getting off the mainland all together. Safety isn't the only factor though. you live in the countryside so you probably have your own water source, and plenty of room to grow a small garden. With a small population "most likely your family and immediate neighbors" it could be quite liveable. The problem would come when other roving people see how good you have it and insist on you saving them. Food would run short, disease would set in, and fire would be a major hazard. But as long as no one found you other than random zombies, it's definitely a good place to lay low. I'd still have a back up plan "and some kind of heavy vehicle to use like a tractor or something, that you could mount a brace too to help clear roads in case you had to run for it. As for my island deal. it'd depend on where I was. I'd probably head to one of the outer banks in my state and blow a portion of each access bridge (if any, some are only reachable by ferry. (I'm a little anarchist I guess.. but by this point who cares about a destruction of government property charge?) If the islands became an unlikely situation.. the last resort..would be If nothing else i'd make a slow land trip to Alaska, and hide out there for a decade or so. :)

I agree with the fences would need fortified somehow. Most of the people on my road (it's about half a mile long from the FM road), are relatives. I think the safest house would be my grandmother's house, because it is made of brick. The roof could hold a lot of weight if it came to going up there to get away. The attick would be a safer place if it actually had windows that you can open and ask for help. The door to the attic has one of those pulls that you use to make a ladder go down. After everyone is in, the ladder can be pulled up, which would close the door.

I would go underground. Just by the movies I don't think they could digg. It's going to be fun to mess around with them though. It's going to suck if one of your family members was one though. I wouldn't know what to do.

That would probably work as long as the zombies didn't find your entrance.. and hopefully your alternate exits. You'd need to have enough food to last almost indefinitely though, because every time you came up to raid a fallen town you will risk leading the zombies back to you. Still, among some of the better ideas on this discussion despite that :)
