Some people would say I am fat - with my 30 inch waist and 5'7 height. But some would say I'm okay since I'm taller than the average Filipina. When can one really be considered fat???

FAT is just a label used by people who have been brainwashed to think people should be flat thin. I don't think you're fat. I've got a 38 inch waist darling! You're fat if you want to be, otherwise I'd say I'm a healthy curvy woman :)

I guess your body is just proportional. For me one is fat if he/she already weighs 180-200pounds, have difficulty finding clothes to fit in the department store, have a hard time even to bend to pick up something, gets tired easily or have difficulty to catch her/his breath after just a short walk, has a 35inches and above waistline or no visible waistline at all especially if he/she stands 5feet and below and shaped like a pear or a drum instead of a coca-cola bottle. But then a gain, big size women can be sexy too, it just depends on how they carry themselves.

I agree that fat is a label. But so is skinny. If you are healthy and happy, who cares if someone out there might consider you fat. Medically, it is difficult to determine if someone is "fat." BMI is very flawed...it can consider someone who is naturally big boned or muscular because theya re an athlete overweight. Likewise it can consider someone who is naturally very small boned to be underweight, even if they have a healthy body fat level. Furthermore, carying excess fat in the abdomen is much more strongly linked to heart diease than carrying excess fat int he hips. Whether or not someone is overweight causing them to be unhealthy is individual. Sarah Brown www.sarahpersonaltraining.com
