My boyfriend and I realise we spend over $50 each time we go out. Any tips/idea/suggestion how we can still go out and keep the spending to a minimum?

My husband and I would share an entree when we go out to eat. This will cut your eating budget in half and you will still be able to go to a nice restraunt. Also, when you go out to eat if you drink acohol then you might only want to drink one drink each or again even share a drink. Acohol is very expensive in restraunts. I hope this helps.

You could take turns cooking dinners for each other at home. Or instead of going out to dinner together, go to an ice cream parlor later. Also if you're going to a lot of movies try to go in the mornings and afternoons when it's cheaper. It's summer, so look for street festivals to go to. Some museums have free or reduced days every week, so look on their website.

We both sucked at cooking unfortunately. I guess I can whip up a nice, edible-enough, sandwich or something. In Singapore, the movie tickets are only slightly cheaper from Mon to Thurs... days that i'm busy at work :(

I suggest taking a small picnic so that you don't have buy food and drinks when you are out. You will have bought the things for this at a supermarket as they are far cheaper there. Also you could consider the places you are going to. Do they have a high entrance charge? Do you know of any places to go with no entrance charge. Swimming is a cheap activity that you and your boyfriend might enjoy. Walking is a free activity. You might choose to go on some romantic walks together, like through a field or along a coastline just as the sun is setting. I hope you find some enjoyable things to do that don't cost every much money. Good luck.

The problem is Singapore is too small of a country to explore... I gues I should start hunting for good parks to take a nice quiet stroll of maybe hit the beach during off peak period for a romantic picnic. Thanks your for that. I guess the 2 of are too used to city life we forgot the simplicity of nature

Hey fidainc! Well, the smart-a*s answer would be to take less than $50 with you when you go out on a date, but I'm sure that's not what you're looking for! When you spend "over $50 each time" what are you spending it on? Take food from home instead of spending so much on food. If you are drinkers, I have one word for you: SIP! If you're paying for activities such as movies, clubs, etc. my suggestion is that if you look in your local newspaper, there is usually a section that has local festivities that are low priced or free. You could even look on Yahoo Local for some ideas. Excercising is a great way that you can spend time together and it doesn't cost anything. Find a nice park with beautiful scenery, or find a trail/track and walk together. Last but not least, if you are religious than God would absolutely LOVE it if you two were to worship as a couple. Again, free. Hopefully this gives you some ideas. Elroy

I love the exercising bit... the two of us had been struggling to lose the 'spare tyres'. Thank you babe!
