I thought this was a really interesting topic. There are people that feel that life is pre-determined. What we will be, and the things that we will accomplish in our lives have already been pre-written. Now I can't say that I completly agree, but I don't totally dis-agree. I think that there are certain things that are "predetermined", because of your family and where you live etc.. What do you think???

I think that a good "chunk" of our lives IS pre-determined! The type of family u're born into ISN'T a choice (consciously, anyway)! Whether u're born into poverty, riches, or somewhere in between isn't a "choice"! Whether u have siblings or not (and if so, how many, and of what gender) isn't a "choice" of OURS (it's our parents). Our ETHNICITY isn't a choice! Our natural TEMPERAMENT isn't a choice! Our natural TALENTS and "gifts" AREN'T choices! All of THESE things, and others, are pre-determined B-4 we enter this world! I believe that our overall PURPOSE on Earth is also pre-determined, our DESTINY! Who we'll eventually end up with (mate-wise), if we'll have children or not, what career (if we HAVE a career) we'll prosper in, etc. I think that "free will" comes into play, as far as we CAN make ANY "choice" we want, on a daily basis! But, I feel that, if it's NOT "in line" with God's ultimate purpose 4 your life, that u will experience "road blocks"! And, when something IS "meant 2 be" 4 u, things will "flow" very SMOOTHLY, with little effort on our parts, and sometimes, NO EFFORT at all! So, yes, we DO have "free will", but we can NOT FORCE things 2 "be" that are not MEANT 2 be!

no i don't mean that your family is a choice, but their social status good or bad can offer different opportunities to people.

That's true, tendaheart2002! But, isn't a person's social status, in MANY cases, directly related 2 the family that they grew up in? Like, 4 example, look at Paris Hilton. Would someone like her be in the position she's in (famous 4 doing NOTHING) if it weren't 4 her wealthy "Hilton" lineage? Maybe, maybe NOT! I'm quite sure that her famous last name has ALOT 2 do with her "success" though! I DO c your point, though, as well. No matter WHERE we come from, our lives could STILL go in a number of directions! But, I still say that ALOT of it WILL be affected by how u grew up, where u came from, 'cuz that will affect your self-esteem, how u view the world, and what u think is POSSIBLE 4 your life!
