Anyone else experienced Zoloft withdrawal symptoms?

After nearly two years of taking Zoloft and two attempts to become medication free, I stopped taking Zoloft. My first attempt was a failure. I couldn't handle the withdrawals. My second attend I was more determined because I was certain that my depression was no longer an issue. Within two days of stopping medication very adverse symptoms occured including nausea, fatigue, brain fogginess, a feeling of brain "shivers" when moving my head too fast or looking in a different direction suddenly. Through great difficulty and a LOT of support from my husband, I stuck it out for a month before the symptoms finally went away. I actually felt better emotionally after stopping the medication. Why doesn't anyone tell you about possible withdrawals when you start taking the medication? At least then we would know what to expect and be better able to make a good medical decision for ourselves. I never wanted to stay on Zoloft for long term. I do believe that Zoloft helps with depression, but if it is no longer an issue, is it worth staying on the medication just so you don't have to experience terrible withdrawals?

It's terrible that doctors don't tell you about it, isn't it? It's becoming fairly well known on the internet now, however, and some doctors are beginning to help their patients to wean off the medication more slowly. The latest recommendations I've heard are to reduce it ridiculously slowly, like over several months, and by the smallest amount possible every couple weeks (even to the point of cutting the pill into slivers if necessary). That will knock out the worst of the withdrawal symptoms.

My son never complained of any type of withdrawal symptoms when he came off of the Zoloft. His younger brother is on the Zoloft now though so I guess that I will have to watch for any signs of withdrawals when and if the time comes to take him off of it.
