She might have an ear infection, be teething, or just be afraid of the dark. I had this problem with my daughter. You may want to take hr to the dr to make sure she is healthy with no ear infection.

yes, we can also consider some teething problem as a probable cause since she is already a one year old child. you can also try to find somebody in your place who knows how to give babies and children a massage. this will help greatly in their growing up years. if you cannot find one, try doing it yourself. apply baby oil on the child's chest and back then gently slide your hands from up the shouders down repeatedly, applying light pressure each time while doing so. do this at the chest and back of the child. i hope that this can make your child go to sleep. a better one to use will be cold rub applied lightly at the back and chest also.

bring her to the doctor for a check up. relate everything that you have noticed during the night that she had been crying for hours. in the evenings, just keep the light on in her bedroom. it could be that the baby would want her surroundings to be well lighted all the time. my eldest used to be a crybaby, too. the doctor cannot find anything wrong with her. she can only go to sleep if i kept on holding her in my arms. so we can both get some sleep, i used to take a buddha type sitting position at one corner of the bed, hold her enclosed in my arms and then lower her on my lap. it was such a sacrifice but, it was the only way that i can deal with her cries. there is really nothing wrong with her. the doctor was right. now she is a 28-year old pharmacist and is still doing fine. good luck in your parenting days. may you be able to find the right way to deal with your problem.

If your baby only cries like this at night it sounds as though she is frightened of something it maybe the dark .Try a night light to see if that will help even some soft music when putting her down . May be she needs to be checked by your dr just to make sure she doesn`t have a sore throat or an ear infection .It can be so upsetting when they cry and you do not know what is wrong with them and especially hard if she has been ok up until now . I wish you well and hope that she soon settles for you .Take care

I'm going to agree with what others have suggested so far- that she could be cutting a tooth and/or have an ear infection. But I'd also consider what else is going on. Was the weather much different yesterday than it's been recently- hotter, rain storm, etc? Did she eat anything that she's never had before? Has there been a change in her bathroom routine? Has anyone in the house recently been sick? It may have just been that she was overtired & fighting falling asleep, but I'd consider everything else too.

well is she cutting any teeth this may be making her unconfortable and this can also give a baby an ear infection too, where was she when she began to cry like this? if in a dark place she might just be afraid of being alone in a darl room but after consoling her she would of probualy stopped if that were the case. I dont think i have ever heard of cholic forming in a one year old child but it is said that if the baby cries unconsolably at or around the same time every day then it is cholic, i think that if you are as worried as you sound then you should consult a doctor just in case there is something that cant be seen. Good Luck

There are lots of possible reason why do babies cry. One is they are hungry and asking for milk or they are not comfortable with what they are wearing. It could also be a reason that there's something wrong with her.. She might feel pain in some parts of his body.. Or some just do cry before they sleep for the reason that they cant find their way of good sleep... What I suggest is you to be sensitive enough to understand her needs.. Do all possible ways to stop her crying... Or just hold her in your body while bringing her to sleep...

If your baby is still crying~ since this was posted 12 hours ago~ I would agree with everyone else and call the doctor. If it isn't an ear infection she could have an upset stomach or a number of other things. Also, is she having regular bowel movements? This could cause a baby to have pain too. Best bet is to go to the doctor and make sure that it isn't something serious.

To be honest, i don't think a child of this age actually knows how to be scared of something - they don't understand fear just yet - my daughter is 1 as well. I would assume that it would be teething - i have found this to be the problem with my daughter lately. It could also be an upset tummy, occasionally my daughter cries when she cant bring up her wind by herself. You don't really want to let her cry for an hour though. I have found when my daughter is in bed & cries, she's either lost her dummy/pacifier or she's hungry so a bottle usually works. If she's 1 then she's not really a small baby any more so it's more than likely teething, which can be very painful (my daughter's 6th tooth is just coming through now & it's causing her some troubles). You can try infants panadol (pain reliever) or you could see if she has wind or even if she's hungry but i doubt she's afraid of anything being her age - maybe she just wasn't ready for bed. Good luck!
