How long before Halloween should you carve your Pumpkin? I don't want to do it just to have it smelly and rotted by Halloween night LOL

We always do ours the week of Halloween for exactly that reason. They go bad so quickly once they are carved. We always have four jack-o-lanterns here as each of my kids do one and I do one as well. My ultimate dream for halloween is to have enough carved pumpkins to line both sides of the driveway. I think that would be so awesome, however, chances are it won't ever happen. I think my hand would fall off before I could carve that many, lol

Wow! that sure would take alot of work. I love pumpkins and everything to do with Halloween. It is sort of like my own Christmas. Hee hee! I actually saw someone online say that you can put Vasoline on the cut edgets and carved parts of the pumpkin.. but I don't know as theat sounds yucky.

We usually wait a couple of days before Halloween because I find they rot so easy on us . And it gives the children something to do when it is closer to the time for Halloween to come , and helps pass some of the day for them because they are excited about it coming . Find it helps calm them down a bit lol .

For some reason they seemed to last longer when I lived in colder weather back east. I would get the pumpkins about 7 days early and now ut here in AZ they don't seem to last. I love halloween and got all excited and bought them too soon. :(
