How many of you parents out there, put a band aid on every cut and scrap your kids get? I have a neigbour who does that and its very wired. Now my daughter, who i would only put on on if it was a major cut or scrap has picked this up and gets mad when i will not put one on a small cut.......

well with my oldest he didn't like them. after his surgery we had a hard time keeping the band aids on. he was just over one then. mt middle son will be three the 24th and if it bleeds he has to have a band aid even if its just a little scrap. as long as theres no blood then a kiss works just fine. they never stay on long only a few minutes then he takes it off and throws it a way. for some reason he just don't like the blood.

I make it a habit to hide the band aids and tell my kids I don't have anymore. It's for that purpose alone. They got to a point they were putting band aids on everything. Sometimes things need AIR to get better. Even a doctor will tell you that. If something is bleeding and won't stop, then I pull out a band aid. Otherwise, we clean it up, puton some hydrogen peroxide, then some neosporin. That's it, all better !!

i like your answer and i have done that too. i used neosporine too and it makes them feel alittle better that i have done that. and thats true that the doctors will say, fresh air is great for a cut and helps heal it faster.

We do not use bandaids. It tends to keep in moisture and the wound needs to be cleaned and let dry. Your body can seal a cut much better if allowed to be free of a bandaid. We do not have any in the house. One less expense although not a large one.

To be honest I am a bit like you and a great believer in letting fresh air help the healing process, plus plasters always give me a rash so I don't like them. However if my child decided they wanted one because their friend gets one then I would try to have some in and then I could indulge them. Unfortunately I am the sort who would always forget to have some in but if you have them it doesn't hurt to do this for your child if it makes them happy.

I must admit I don't do this honey - I don't think it heals as quickly or as well if you keep it covered and it also doesn't dry out - which you need if it is going to heal! If a dressing is needed I would put a wound dressing on it rather than a plaster(band aid). xx

I only put a bandaid on if there is blood. A scrape doesn't need a bandaid. My daughter gets mad at me when I won't put a bandaid on her too, but oh well, that's life.
