For non fiction I'd recommend Children of the Matrix by David Icke if you like reading about alternative views on world events. For fiction I've got a lot that I could recommend. Some really humorous books are The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series by Douglas Adams, the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, and The Road to Mars by Eric Idle. For some reason all of the best comedy authors seem to be british, lol. If you like books with vampires in them, you should read The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice and the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamiliton.

No I'm not British, I'm from the United States. I love British comedy though. Besides the British authors I mentioned, I love shows like Absolutely Fabulous and Monty Python's Flying Circus. I also like pretty much any movie that Flying Circus actors are in. I used to be able to watch the old Flying Circus episodes on my TV using a feature called "On Demand" that my cable company provides, which means I could select a show and watch it whenever I wanted. They took the Flying Circus shows off of On Demand a while back which really upset me. I guess if I want to watch them now I have to find out when they are on the BBC America channel or just buy them on DVD.

I really enjoyed the Mitford series of books by Jan Karon. It's about a middle age episcopalian priest that finds a dog, a son, and a wife. It's some of the best books I've read in a long time. My all time favorite book is Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. It's along the line of Old Yeller. I just finished reading it to my kids and hubby (It's been a "read in the car" book.) All of us were in tears by the end. Kate DiCamillo is a great author who write spectacular children's literature. I'm sure you've heard of Because of Winn Dixie, but she's also written The Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane, and The Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup and a Spool of Thread. Another great series is the Miss Julia Books by Ann B. Ross. These are about an elderly woman who meets the woman & son who her late husband was cheating with and the relationship that she developes with them. So funny, because Miss Julia is such a "Proper Presbyterian." There is also Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini. These are similar to the Lord of the Rings series, but quite impressive and easy to read. I'm patiently waiting for the last book of this trilogy. How's that for a summer reading list? As you see, I read a lot of children's literature. That's OK, my kids enjoy them when I read aloud to them, and they are simple enough to hold my interest. :) Do you have any suggestions for me?
