Will you shut down your computer?

I am very confident about the things that will happen if I dont shut down the computer properly and I know the remedies for them that too. so I always prefer to switch the mains directly off than go through the lengthy process of shutting down the computer.
Any arguments?

I always try not to shut down my computer properly because i don't want to wait for few seconds so i simply turn off my power supply directly when i need to shut down my computer and its been more than 10 year that i have been dealing with with computer and its rarely that i close my computer properly and still never got any problem with my computer till date :)

in our house, we have acquired the habit of shutting down the computer properly. but sometimes, it is inevitable to switch off the mains directly when it takes a long time for the computer to shut down. what are really the problems that arise when the computer isn't properly shut down? all i know is that some changes may not be saved. are there other problems than what i mentioned?
