Has anyone here see "Freedom Writers"? I thought this was an excellent movie. My boyfriend and I rented it to watch together. At first I thought it would be a cheesy chick-flick, but it had a very deep and important message about cliques, gang violence, and discrimination. While we were watching it, we discussed how we thought the kids should be exposed to this movie in a controlled environment - as in, we should host a movie night at the new karate school to watch the movie, discuss the implications of gang violence and gang symbols, and let them talk about the things they experience. Alot of the kids like to play "thug" and don't really even know what gangs are all about. It's time they learn what NOT to do in life!

This is one of those movies you watch and it gets you thinking about doing something positive. I really liked the movie, because there was hope for those kids that have been written off my others.

It was a really good story and, perhaps like many, it got me thinking about some of things that happened. But I think that something that really moved me and seriously got me thinking was the fact that one teacher got all these kids to write and to look beyond what they could see, beyond appearances. And there is also the fact that this teacher really doesn't appear to be from the same socio-economic background. Throughout the entire movie, she is determined to help her students and she truly did believe that her students could do better in school. She wanted to give them the chance that other people, that the administration wasn't giving them. I think that we need more people like this teacher.

This is the most profoundly moving film I watched recently and exactly moves me to tears when I watch it every time. A neatly worked-out plots with sweet music. My ears drank in music and emotion follow the exciting and gripping plots. And even then, on the rare occasions when something opens within, and the music enters, what we mainly hear, or hear corroborated, are personal ,private and vanishing evocations.
