Curt Schilling almost no hitter

Curt Schilling almost threw a no hitter for the Boston Red Sox yesterday. With two outs in the 9th, he gave up a single, after shaking off catcher Jason Varitek. Who thinks shaking off Varitek was a mistake. Personally, I would trust Schilling to make his own decisions, but then he got hit. Now one unfortuantely wonders what if?

I don't there is anything too it. According to both Jason Varitek and Schilling, his signs might have been shaken off 5 or 6 times in that start. Most of them went very well for Schilling (after going 82/3 without allowing a hit). That being said, you can wonder what if, but the key is victory, and the Red Sox (who had lost 4 straight) needed that win and Schilling went out there and pitched a beauty. Sure, it hurts, but Schilling is a veteran of more than 15+ MLB seasons at least, I think he can be trusted to make his own decisions on the mound... at least, I think so.
