How to make expandable post summaries in my blog? (Blogger)

I use blogger.
I want to make the blogger to show only a part of the text and then readers can click on the link to view the whole passage if they want.
But I don't know how to do it with layouts.
I'm NOT using classic templates, I am using layouts. So I cannot follow the tutorial provided by the blogger. Please don't tell me to convert to classic templates, it would be a huge sacrifice.
I'm not that good with HTML, and I don't know what is CSS or something like that. Please give me the code too.
Please kindly provide me a detailed solution. I would appreicate it a lot.
