Getting tape residue off hardwood?

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on how to get sticky masking tape residue off me hardwood floors. When they installed my cable, they did a horrible job of making it look inconspicuous so we put tape over it, but after a year in a dog and cat filled house, the tape started to wear down and look quite hairy so I took it off. Now I have these large sticky patches on my floor that soap and water don't seem to want to take out. Does anyone know of anything that I could use to get it off without wrecking the finish on my hardwood?

There is a product that you can buy called "Goo-Gone". That is suppsoed to remive sticky residue. You might want to read the bottle to be sure it's ok for hardwood floors, but it's oil based so I bet it will be ok. I think you can get Goog_Gone at any hardware store. I hope this helps you. Good Luck!
