How do you get rid of flies?

We have SO many flies in our house. Well, in one room. Our house is only two rooms and my son sleeps in one, my husband and I share the other with the baby, and it also serves as our main room where we eat, watch tv and just live in general. I sweep and mop several times throughout the day, wash the bedspread at least once a week and try to keep all garbage, etc. out of the room. But it still is full of flies! Any ideas on how to get rid of these annoying critters?

I am not really sure why flies still come if your house is already very clean. Strange... Have you tried burning some incense to chase them out? Not sure if it might work but you can try... there are some incense for this purpose...

I think they come because they smell food when we are eating. Also, my son spills stuff on the bedspread, which is why I have to wash it so often!

Is it possible to spread another piece of cloth or somehow contain that spill so that you can remove it right away? Then it may attract less flies...

Fly spray would be the easiest solution i guess, just spray it in the room and watch them drop like, well, flies.

Would that be safe for babies, though?

Old-fashioned fly paper would be best to have around for the baby. You hang it up high where it's away from the children and you change it once a week. Just be careful not to get it stuck to you! :-) Try the hardware store rather than a grocery or other kind of store to find fly paper.
