Pure or Mixed Breed?

Hello all doglovers out there... what type of pet dog would u prefer?purebred or mixed(designer dogs)?I have several dogs and all of them are hybrid dogs, although it is nice to have a purebred pet since they are beneficial in that, when you buy a purebred you will know what u will be getting. How he will look like or if he will be friendly to strangers, etc. You'll just have to ask or read from a reliable source regarding their qualities and behavior. I'm fascinated with designer dogs because its a challenge on how ur dog will turn out, like my little peekapoo for instance, we dont know yet what she will look like and what traits will she adopt when she becomes an adult.Isn't it challenging? How about you? Pls. share..

i'd have to go with the pure breed. i've had two pure breed dogs one a cocker spaniel and the other a pitbull. i say pure breed just because i wanna know what my dog is goin look like when it gets older. and with muts they can look one way as a puppy and when they start to get older they can end up lookin another way. not saying anythings wrong with muts i just wouldn't go out and get one

I would just like to react on ur comment with mixed breeds mistaking it as mutts. Designer dogs are different from mutts because a mutt is of uncertain ancestry while a designer dog has a documented purebred ancestry. Anyway, thank u very much for the response..

I love all dogs whether they are purebreds or of mixed breeds. We have one purebred Brittany Spaniel as well as two mix bred German Shepards. They are all three very loving animals that are good with the three small children in our home. I think that part of a dogs behavior is because of they way that the dog has been treated in the past. If a dog is abused then it has a tendency to be more aggressive towards others.

i would have to say that it does not matter. if you are a true dog lover and not using them for breeding purposes then does it really matter? i have had both types of dogs, both are equally lovable and trainable.

I love dogs and dont really care what breed they are. We got a bordercollie cross lab for free from a farmer. He is an annoying puppy but he is so cute.

I am an animal lover. I have had purebreds and muts. For the sake of the animal these days, there are so many unwanted pets, especially the mixed breeds. So, for that reason alone, I would get a mixed breed. Not for the challenge of knowing what it will be like or look like. But to love and care for unwanted dogs, cats, or others.

Well, I love dogs no matter what, and it doesn't matter to me what they look like. In saying that though, given the choice, I would LOVE a Chocolate Labrador. I've always liked them, but their color is amazing, and their temperament is awesome. Thats very important given that I have children. So in saying all that, I think I have to say purebred over designer dogs lol. With purebred, you know what you're getting.

Jake - This is a picture of our dog Jake. He had just gotten a pet from my son Stuart and sat down. He loves attention and wants us to pet him every time we go outside. :)
Hello! We have one dog and his name is Jake. He is a mixed breed, we don't really know what kind he is. But he is a sweet dog for our family and a good watch dog. He always lets us know when someone is around. I love all kinds of dogs but we would probably never buy a registered dog because that is more money than we would be willing to pay. I have uploaded a picture of our dog Jake. :) SheliaLee

I do have a number of dogs and most of them are mixed breed. I treat them equally since all of them are special to me. I took care of them while they were still newborn pups until they have grown up. And those times were tiring (getting up in the middle of the night to givethem their milk) but definitely worth it. I agree with you that for a mixed breed pups, you can't be sure on what their appearance would be until they have grown up. It's one of the things that you'll definitely want to look forward to ;p

Hi there! I love dogs! I would prefer a pure bred dog because you can see its real beauty if the dog is a pure bred one. I don't have a pure bred dog yet, but I have a Terrier-Maltese dog and his name is Hakkobbo. We at home also have stray dogs.
