Another copycat here on MyLot :(

I don't know if this was already discussed or not, so I apologize in advance if it was. There is yet ANOTHER copycat here on MyLot. Apparently koolboy16 doesn't play by the rules and has copied someone's response to my discussion, word for word. GRRRRRR! This person WILL be reported, no doubt about that!
Here is the discussion I'm talking about. His response is #9. You can see that he copied it from response #2. :(

As a matter of fact this wasn't the only time he did this. After I posted this discussion I went to his profile and looked for myself. Sure enough he used the same response in other discussions passing it on as his own.

Very unpleasant situation indeed:-( Just wonder why all theese people from certain countries come here if they cant contact with others honestly, dont know English so much and just hope to get some easy money using copypaste. I reported him too and hope he will be deleted forever:-(

It doesn't seem to matter where these cheaters/copycats come from, all they are interested in is making a quick buck. Mylot could cancel his account or even ban his IP, but doing so may not stop him from making a new account and continue his cheating ways.

I hate copycats. It is done, my friend. I have reported him and asked myLot to send him a warning at least (lol, as if they will listen to me :P).
Oh yes, I slapped a minus on him too. I suspect he copied the discussions as well - they look familiar to me. But I have no time to play detective just right now. :/

I haven't looked at his discussions, but I have seen a few of his responses where he did copy them. I reported those as well. MyLot admin is going to hate me if I keep reporting this guy! LOL

I just reported him on 5 different discussions AND provided the link to your discussion that he stole the answer from. I told them in the abuse report something needs to be done with this user. He has been here for 6 months, and if this is all he does.. he is making money over and over again with other people's words !!

By the looks of it this individual should be banned from mylot altogether. I have reported him for each copy and paste that I found as well. And it does appear that he decide he should swipe a few discussions as well. I hate lazy people who steal from others. Thanks Sacmom for bringing this to everyone's attention.

I agree, mylot SHOULD ban this guy, but it may not stop him from signing up with a new user name and doing this all over again. =/

This same individual made the exact response word for word in 3 different discussions of mine also. I reported those as well.

OOOH....I love it when these people get outed. It really ticks me off when people do this. The vast majority of mylot users give a lot of thought to their discussions, and don't want them blatantly plagerized. Wonder if he'll respond to this discussion, perhaps by cutting/pasting someone elses response. LOL

Thanks. I don't know if you noticed this or not but this wasn't the only discussion he did this with. Some of the others saw this and reported him as well. I'm assuming MyLot put a lock on his account because his profile is still up, yet admin has removed all of his discussions and replies.

Awww sacmom. It can be annoying to see those lazy, indolent posters. This poster seems familiar to me. I'm not sure but I think another member had complained about this user too. I'm sure mylot will do something about this user right away.

Shame on his cool antics if he really thinks he is cool. Copying other's answer will only put him in a difficult situation and oh, we need to act now, do something for this not to happen again.

I'm glad to have helped the community by alerting everyone of this cheater/copycat. This was not the only time he has done this (just look at some of his other responses) and he needs to be stopped! Hopefully MyLot admin will take care of this person accordingly.

Well done! I am also in the long line who can't stand the people who are unable to conjure up an original thought. But I would be careful with the racial profiling by one of the replies. The cynic in me notes that he is a young rap fan and my opinion of them is slightly south of George Bush (and let me tell you, that's bad). Nice to see the quick action by myLot as well, they are listening,just have to speak to them.

Yes, Mylot admin seems to be pretty quick in "coming to the rescue" when there is a problem on here. Someone just needs to point it out to them first. :P

I don't like copycats or cheaters. I am glad that you were able to catch this and then report it. It is nice to know that there are honest people like you here on mylot. I will try to go through his discussions and responses to see if I can find any. Like you I would like to keep this place clean of those types of people.

I am assuming he did this because he figured it's the fastest way to make some money. But cheating is a big no no here and MyLot has since taken care of this copycat.

Looks like his account has finally been stripped down. His response on your discussion is gone. I have been aware of him for awhile and have reported him many times. This name is very familiar. I think he used to spell his ID as coolguy01 or something like that. I remember that a few of us reported him for being extremely rude to posters.

That is outrageous. I hate people like that, they ruin it for everyone else. He should be deleted, and he shouldn't be allowed to return. I'm sure whoever runs this site has the power for that. People who can't take the time to think up and type their own responses are the reason we have to go through some of the extra steps on certain sites to make sure we aren't cheaters. How sad that people are too lazy and dumb to answer things in their own words.

I have no doubt that the admin at MyLot has the 'power' to ban people. However there is no guarantee that this person and others like him won't be back after being banned. After all, there are ways around this and if they are that desperate to get back on here they will find a way to do so.

Yes, I too see that MyLot admin has removed it. Sadly though this guy has been using this response and passing it as his own in other discussions he's replied to. He just doesn't know when to quit! :(

it's really good to know that there are people like you who use the report button for its purpose. i was afraid that this community might turn into one of those free-for-all types where everyone ends up doing what they want and people end up getting hurt, cheated on, etc. this way, potential copycats will know what's in store for the. keep up the good work! and i'll be on the lookout for others like him too!

Thanks teleios. Copycats will not be tolerated here on MyLot. If someone on here sees a copycat/cheater it is up to them to report it. I just took an extra step further and posted a discussion about it as I felt I should warn my fellow mylotters about this.

This was by no means a coincidence. Every single word in his response was so obviously copied. To top it off he posted the same response word for word in other discussions passing it along as his own work. I did tell MyLot to warn this guy. I don't know if they did or not, but I do know that others saw his cheating ways and reported him as well. MyLot admin will not tolerate this type of behavior and they have removed his posts (discussions and replies) due to him copying others.

someone had responded to one of my discussions with tath exact same response...and i was confused because my discussion, about my car being in the shop, had NOTHING to do with that response...it makes sense here! It's gone now...so I guess it got deleted, I don't know if it was the same person or not. That sucks though.
Especially when you have to get to 500 to be able to even copy..and people are still screwing it up..next they'll make it 1,000!

Shhhh! Don't say such a thing, even if you re only joking! It took me long enough to get to 500 posts. I couldn't imagine losing the ability to copy and paste after getting this far. I rely on being able to do this as I use another program to type out my discussions/responses before posting them here. It would suck big time if MyLot decided to up the number because some idiots decide to cheat and ruin it for the rest of us. :(

True true. I hope they don't up it. At least you're not too far from it. I constantly try to do that, the typing elsewhere and responding by copying and then I can't copy! It's so upsetting. I just want to copy! It always sucks when there are people around who have to ruin things for other people.
