this is a light hearted discussion. I don't mean any physical punishment but something you thought was such a bad punishement but years later you look back on it with a smile.I don't remember what i did but my mom took away my Nancy Drew books for a whole week! I thought my world had just about ended! No Nancy Drew!I begged, pleaded and cried but to no avail! I thought I had the meanest mommie in the whole world, lol! what happened to you that you thought was so bad when you were little but years later you think it was humerous?

You know, through my entire horrible distasteful childhood, i can't think of one punishment that was worse than any other other than seeing my brothers and sisters get in trouble by them. I've always thought of my childhood as what made me who i am today, and though my parents shouldn't be parents, i wouldn't be who i am without what they put me through. maybe the only thing that did any harm to me that didn't make me any stronger was being locked up, never being allowed to leave the house... Because now i'm a home body.

i don't know either, my parents are the prime example of what not to be, i can think of punishments that i got that could be classified as horrible and such, but this turning me into a homebody is the worst one in my eyes because it will never go away. I don't know anything else, and i can't handle getting out, i just panic. but just a while back my father showed the kind of person he really is when he took an axe to my brother for talking back to him, and refusing my other brother hospital privelages when he had suffered 3rd degree burns covering one side of his body due to my father, those things are just a little peak into who my father is, and always has been, i can't wait until my mother gets custody, she may not be much better for just standing by and watching, but at least the kids will be better off.

i dont' know why some people who shouldn't be parents are allowed to be parents.I wish parents would stop and think of the damage they do their kids.I know what it is to be a home body although mine is by choice. i live in florida and i hate the heat.maybe when we move back to jersey I will get out more. . it's lonesome being a homebody

I think the worst 'punishment' I used to get was having to play host to my cousin Jeff when he and his sister and their parents would visit. It would just about kill me. He is about a year older than me, and was the kid that was always in trouble, always breaking things, always getting yelled at and doing absurd things. Being around him used to stress me out to no end because there was hell always on the evrge of breaking loose and then one of his parents would be shrieking, "Jeeeeefffffffrrrrryyyyy!" So, I was meant to entertain him and keep him out of trouble, as though that was possible. And he was convinced when we grew up we were going to get married, even though I tried to explain to him that first cousins aren't supposed to get married. I used to literally hide when he was due to show up, but unfortunately he would always find me.

omg, woodpigeon.your experience sounds like what me and my brother had to go through with our cousins. my aunt carol and uncle basil would come to visit with their brats and we had to play with them whether we wanted to or not. They were so obnoxious, always putting us down, calling us names, ets.I couldn't wait til they were gone

I used to think my aunt and uncle were INSANE because they were so constantly stressed out and angry with him, but he was one of those kids that trouble followed, and he had no sense to boot. I remember taking his new bike apart and giving pieces of it to a friend because he needed them. He didn't realise his own bike would no longer work. Or running to jump into a pool and him getting the same idea at the same time and plowing into me. I remember us both bleeding from our noses and mouths. Or everybody else managing the rope swing fine but him falling off and rolling down a hill of nettles...it was endless. And all the while assuring me what a blissfull marriage we had to look forward to. OMG!!

Hey, you DID get a bad punishment. : ) The worst I ever had was when my mom made me come out of my room for a week straight. Yes, you read that right. She made me come out of my room and interact with my family. I just had a habit of eating with them, doing my homework, and then going in my room to read or listen to music. So didn't let me go back to room until bedtime. LOL

When I was 11, we lived in an older country home in Iowa...it had a coal furnance in the basement...one day I was playing with the old stick matches down there...i really do not know what I was thinking...well, of course at 11, not much.....Mom caught me and grounded me for a whole year....I could not go anywhere that was not family for a whole year...she even marked the calendar....she did not give in either.....it was the longest year of my life and Grandma probably got sick of me...LOL Now I look back and think how horrified she must have been with her, my younger sister, and my step-dad all in the house while this ignorant child is in the basement striking matches within 3 feet of the furnance and the coal bin....nuts...I tell you...I was completely insane!!! I do not blame her....I have laughed about it since I have grown up but gosh, that was a long year.....at 11, it seemed like 5 years.....LOL
