I own a PSP and I have also tried playing a DS. Their features are obviously different when it comes to gaming as the DS utilizes its touch screen feature that the PSP doesn't have. Perhaps the PSP would have more button options when the game's movement is only possible with the analog yet, more buttons doesn't necessarily more fun in gaming. Besides, the games make it enjoyale, not the handheld where you play it. When it comes to multimedia features, the PSP seems to have more advantage on that. Multimedia does go along with visual display so, PSP has a better screen size compared to the DS'. I think you can also play some video and audio files on the DS but, I am not sure if its an innate feature on the DS. I guess the new models have it. The DS however can protect its screen since you can fold it while the PSP doesn't have that kind of advantage. You might as well apply some screen protector on it. The first PSP is indeed heavy but, they reduced its size, also weight, with the newer versions that followed. Never the less, I still prefer the first thick model they have since it seems more durable compared to the slimmer and lighter ones. That goes along with the DS models too. One thing that I don't find durable on the DS would be its hinges. You get to fold it every time your done playing and you unfold it every time you want to play again. It'll take its toll. Both handhelds have their advantages and disadvantages. But, with the gaming library, I think we'd find more games on the DS as it accommodates a lot of gamers from different age groups while the PSP mostly goes along with teens and up since most games that they have utilize the detailing it can display which most of the time violent games have. DS on the other hand is backward compatible with the GameBoy titles unlike the PSP.

I think the best handheld is DS, the psp is better but the umd disk may have scratches in future wherein the catridge have longer lifespan, also loading is the issue of psp and battery life is short. DS has more library than PSP, they maybe have games that is not available on DS - it maybe a PSP or DS exclusive. But for my opinion DS is the best period.

If you want a multimedia device that can play music, videos, games and can connect to the internet then the psp if for you,, if you want just pure games (games that are superb) not unlike the psp that you can play it games on the ps2 console... then get the DS... and by the way its much cheaper

I'm gonna own both tomorrow. Well actually, I've 2 PSPs and my DS Lite (Icey Blue) is arriving tomorrow. Can't wait... PSP is a great multimedia device. You have games, movies, musics and homebrew stuffs if you know how. But I think PSP has more serious games as compare to DS Lite. I'm gonna accompany my new DS Lite with some cutesy fun games tomorrow!
