Are you tired of people giving you advice?

Don't get me wrong. I love My Lot, otherwise I wouldn't hang around here so much. And, I really do value all the fantastic parenting advice that I receive. And, I thought that most people were actually trying hard to give good information, until I saw where someone had posted a very mean spirited piece of parenting advice suggesting that parents put kids on leashes. I've heard of child harnesses before, but I think this person was actually talking about a leash. Very mean! Not at all appropriate. Have you ever had this happen to you? Have you ever received a silly or ridiculous piece of advice from another My Lot member?

Unsoliciated advice in real life really sucks sometimes, but it is easier to just nod and smile and go on my merry way. As for MyLot, if I am going to ask a question that deals in the very touchy world of parenting and the many different ways and opinions out there, I very much expect a wide range of answers and even a few troll like answers. Some people on the internet are only here to have fun by making others angry. I do not know if that is the situation with the discussion you are speaking of, but it may have been. The only way those trolls will ever stop is if people quit getting fired up and angry with them. As for your question, I haven't received any "bad" or weird advice on MyLot that was not given genuinly.

Sometimes on here I say very ridciulous thigns to people that I know regulary on here so maybe it's just a joke but then some people really do come on here just to give out the craziest advice cos at the end of the day its not like any of this is in the "real" world. I think you really do have to take everything with a pinch of salt on here.

Here we call them a harness & leash - you have the harness on the child but you need a leash looking thing attached to that! I don't like them myself coz it makes me think of a dog & a child deserves a little more respect than that but some parents like it because it allows the child to have some freedom without being able to take off. I call it a leash myself so if it was me, i apologise but that's what we associate them with!
