Redoing a Room in your house

If you could redo any ONE room in your house with no cost to you, what room would you choose and what would you do with it?
I'd choose our living room. Since that is where we spend most of our time. I'd get a new couch & chair. New sidetables, a new TV, and a new computer desk. And some kind of shelf system to hold all our other electronics on. I'd also want surround sound speakers.

Don't laugh, but the room I would pick is my bathroom. Its so small, I could probably sit on the toliet, soak my feet in the tub and wash my hands in the sink. Ok, so I am exaggerating a little bit.lol. The floor is getting really bad. It has stood up to many kids bathtub floodings. It really needs to be replaced. And the bathroom is so boring. I really hate going in there sometimes.

Hey I think the bathroom is a great room to redo. Would you expand it to when you redid it? What would you put in it?

Yes, I would definately expand it, probably three times as big as it is now. I was thinking maybe a jacuzzi would be nice to put in there. Definately different wallpaper. And maybe even a tv for those times that you have to go right in the middle of your favorite show.lol.

I would do my kitchen. It is the center of my house. I would like everything updated.

Is there anything special you'd want in your kitchen besides just getting everything updated.

Granite countertops, cabinets refinished a little darker, all stainless appliances and large lazy-susans added to my lower corner cabinets. I would also like to remove a wet bar that we have and create a larger walking pantry.

While I'm dreaming, perhaps I could save money by buying a large piece of granite and have granite countertops added in both of my bathrooms as well.

It really would be a toss up because my house really sux! LOL My bathroom would probably win though because the landlord has a half-arsed shower put in, plaster walls (yes, I know.. plaster and water... do not make for a good shower stall), a window that doesn't open, a toilet that is rigged. I'd love a huge walk in shower big enough for 2 people (*wink*) and then a nice jacuzzi tub next to it. Looks like my son's bedroom gets taken down a size! LOL AND... a direct door from my room to the bath so I could go in and run to my room without the 800 teenagers visiting seeing me in my towel.
Yeah... the bathroom would definitely win!

Aww, can only pick one room? LOL We've just moved into a brandnew house (wish I could enjoy it more), so it's looking pretty sparse as far as furniture go. We never had much to begin with, or rather anything decent, but this place is pretty darn big and hard to fill.
Anyway, if I could fill redo just one room, I would have to go with the bedroom, since it's the one I'm in the most lol. New eastern king-sized bed, new dresser - instead of the bulky, hand-me-down excuse for one in the corner, perhaps a few small chairs or loveseat that's not too overbearing to sit in front of the bed for times when I like to read. Definitely something decent to put our new tv in, rather than the tiny tv stand that's bearing the weight now, and barely. Some pictures and other decorations...I'm a wuss when it comes to picking that sort of thing for myself (great doing it for others lol), since I always feel I'll get sick of looking at it soon after.
I like your surround sound speakers idea, if only I knew the other half wouldn't abuse it by blasting it at ear-splitting levels lol.

It would probably be the bathroom attached to our master bedroom...it has this godawful flowery wallpaper than just makes me ill at the sight of it. We were going to change it but after the ordeal we had stripping paper in our kitchen we gave up on the idea...would love someone to come in and do it for us

My kitchen. It's an apartment style kitchen barely able to fit 2 people, in a large 4 bedroom house.
Of course, my house is a rental but if it didn't cost anything, I'd still make it bearable for the time I lived here, plus my landlord would likely give me a month or two rent-free just for the work.
The countertops would be pulled out, as well as all the cupboards, the lino and the island in the middle. I'd also replace the appliances with new ones. I'd redo the floor in a nice ceramic tile, put up cupboards with windows in the doors to let in more light, have a small serving area just in the entrance to the dining room instead of the cumbersome island, get the plumbing re-done, make the window bigger and capable of opening wider and differently than it does now, replace the light fixture with something more kitchen-like and paint the walls.
I'd finish it off by replacing the tiles on the backsplash with a complimentary color, and put in a built in stereo system so I could listen to the radio while I am cooking. :)
Ahhh.. fantasizing.

I would definetly do our hall bathroom. That poor bathroom is still stuck in the 80's! LOL. We've lived in our house now for 10 years and that bathroom is the one room we have not remodeled yet. It seems like everytime we plan on it, something else comes up.
I would love to tear the room down to the bare studs. Redo everything including a new shower and tub, I'd like ceramic tiles, a new vanity, lighting, you name and I want it LOL.

My bedroom! It is so dull and dreary! I would first pant the walls and then get all new furniture (prefer and antique) incl a desk, oh what I wouldn't do! add pictures to the wall and posters and paint the ceiling a different color than the walls, new bedding and drapes, organizational storage items and so-so much more

Gosh that's too many decisions for a person to make! Though I'd say I'd want the living room, basement, and bathroom redone. Or if possible for a big project if I could have the basement turned into a few rooms like a laundry room, a rec room, storage, and utility room. And of course get all the drywall, electrical, furniture and fixtures done so it looks nice instead of one big ol' room.

If I could redo one room, I'm trying to decide between the kitchen and the main bathroom. They would both be completely demolished and rebuilt.
The problem is the bathroom is quite small and I don't think it would be able to be remodeled looking the way I really want it to without expanding the wall into another room.
The kitchen would be easier to do because the size of it is OK. So I guess I'd go with the kitchen, because it would cost more to do, so if I were to redo any room for free, I'd pick the one that would cost the most. Replace the vinyl flooring with ceramic or even laminate tiles, new cabinets with granite, quartz or recycled glass counter tops, and built in banquet table with storage in the bench. Stainless steel appliances and sink and maybe an island.
