Star Rating

What is your star rating here at Mylot? Has your rating dropped? Do you care that it has dropped? I had a red star with a rating of 86, within the last couple of days of not much activity I discover today it has dropped to a 83. Personally, I could care less. My responses are not rude, argumentative or disrespectful. So, I don't know why these people are rating me negative. OVERALL, it doesn't matter to me what their reason(s) are I can care-less. And they are abusing the rating system anyway... What about you all, has your rating dropped and do you care? I don't.

I had my first star when my level of activity just crossed 100. The star was rated 4, but after four days, it went to 7, and my activity level has gone past 200. I hope things continue moving upwards. Anyway I don't attach too much importance to the rating. If it keeps improving, I am happy for it. What's pertinent to me is that I try my best here within the limited time I have to contribute as much and as positive as I can to discussions. To me, quality is more important than quantity. And if I can help someone with my reply, then I am happy to do so. At the end of the day, I should enjoy my experience here.

I don't attach any meaning to the ratings either. I don't know why the negative raters think it matters to rate someone negative. This is the second maybe third time my star has dropped.....I could care so little I can't even tell you how many times it's dropped and it's not as if I have been on here to long to remember!..... A drop in ratings doesn't mean beans; The amount of responses a post get doesn't mean beans, etc. I mean really, people shouldn't take this all so seriously...thanks for the response.

Great advice...I mean we really can't get to worked up over it, it is senseless to do so. Thanks for your response. BTW - love the avatar, your avatar is different and I like different and unique.

I reckon the rating system can be abused by people, but I read in the FAQ that they have a way to check any abuses. Anyway, don't be too sensitive about this rise and fall in ratings, unless it is drastic. Just post positively, don't offend anyone and be helpful as much as you can. If you need to critic something, do it constructively. That's my advice. I'm sure people will appreciate you for it, whether they vote or not.

I had the 10 star for sometimes and then one day a discussion caught my attention. It was about religion and I felt that the person was spreading false information. Usually I don't participate in discussions about religion and politics. But that one got me curious and I answered. Of course my point of view was against the person who started the discussion. Well, the next day in the morning my star already dropped to 9. The person rated me negative and they went to all my discussion and rated me for fun! So I don't agree with the person who answered that if you don't have a good rating then it means you don't start/answer with quality discussions. Anyone who doesn't like you on mylot can drop your ratings down in a very short time. It takes a lot of work to get your star up but very little to drop down. It's very easy for people to rate you negative: they don't even have to answer your discussion/comment/response to be able to give you a rate. Just hit the - button and they are done. I got my star back to 10 but it took me a long time. I don't care anymore about the star as long as it doesn't affect my earnings. Take care inallduetime.

My star rating is 9.It has never been dropped on the way till it reached there.I do care if it gets dropped. That means you are not putting quality stuff and many people are marking you negative.

I know I give thoughtful responses that's why I don't care if the star drops or not. Many of my responses are extremely long to Ackars. I would hardly waste the time to type out some extra long but useless and thoughtless response. .....thanks for your response.

In my opinion , the computer who allots rating has been given a clear cut mechanism, irrespective of intellect, to the point awnsers, emotional awnsers and wise replies. The mechanism may be based on different format, so one should not gauge ones ability after seeing the rating etc, but try to make discussions lively and informative

It would be better if the computer rated the posts instead of individual users. But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. Thanks for your response.
