Scary shingles...

Ok I recently went to an Ear Nose and Throat Doctor for some other problems I have from when I was a kid and found out I had shingles in my ear. I was put on Prednisone and Valtrex and it has cleared up. I feel soo much better. I think I have been getting outbreaks for the past three years and didn't know it. I remember getting a rash when I was pregnant with my daughter and she will be 3 in September. Since I've been on the medicine I feel like I can hear better, see better, breathe easier, my throat isn't costantly sore, and my joints don't ache. Does anyone know if it is possible that all these symptoms were cause by shingles. Thanks guys!

Sounds like most of your symtoms were caused by shingles and the ones that aren't completely related could be because you wore down your system by having it in your body, Since it was in your ear that would account for your hearing. shingles almost always cause muscle aches, also since it was in your ear it would easly go into your throat causing the sore throat. Which in effect would bother your breathing. I am gald that it was caught and you feel better. Make sur your daughter is vaccinated against the chicken pox wince shingles is just another form but in the adult version. You are very lucky some people get it to the point that they are almost bed ridden by the pain.
