I am a night owl by nature but lately it has been really affecting me to the point that I am not functioning well during the day. I am so exhausted through out the day and at night I am still unable to fall asleep. I an thinking about having the doctor prescribe a sleeping pill but was wondering if there are more natural ways to help me sleep.

Have you ever tried meditation or biofeedback? I do both of those to help me with stress and depression, but I often find that a lot of the time I get so relaxed doing it that I fall asleep. I wrote a short article about biofeedback in my blog if you are interested. It's under the post category "Meditation". ~Kythe42 http://lemurianphoenix.blogspot.com

thank you so much that is something I never really thought of that might work. My dr. says I have a racing mind which is the reason that I can't sleep. I do not want to take medication, so meditation might work.

Hi there are some well known tips to get a goo dslepp in the night. - Take bath in mild warm water before sleep - drink a cup of warm milk before going to sleep - Read something before sleeping. - Keep your mind as free as possible are just a few. But if it is not getting cured with all these things, you should consult a doctor.

Thank you very much I have tried the warm bath and will try reading something before bed. I have even tried limiting my time on the computer thinking maybe that was it.

I don't know how pragmatic this would be, but the best solution for you would be to adopt a lifestyle that lets you make the most of your sleepless nights creatively. This would call for some good sleep during daytime. But if you have a regular job, this can be a bit troublesome. There are people who have serious problems at work because of their sleeping habits. I guess it's high time we invent work schedules that accommodate night owls as well:) Wish you all the Best!

I use sleeping tablets, in saying that, I have stopped having caffeine and other stimulants in the evening and I still don't sleep. But I think meditation is a good form of relaxation and a couple of herbal remedies are chamomile tea or echinacea. There are so many great natural remedied out there, try them first is my suggestion. Good luck and wishing you many restful nights sleep soon:)
