When you die, will your religion matter?

I am a catholic and my faith tells me that although it is not important what your religion is it is helpful when you belong to the "right" church. I have seen though many teleevangelists saying that salvation is guaranteed when you belong to their church. Will it really matter? visit my site http://depositoffaith.blogspot.com

I disagree. I believe that your religion is very important. Not to offend any other religions, but the bible says that if you do not accept that Christ is the Son of God, you will perish. It's not about one church over another. It's simply accepting Christ as you Saviour. That is the only thing that matters.

what about those non-christians who never heard of Christ in their lifetime but were able to do good deeds? will they go to hell?

It's not for me to say who goes to hell. The only unforgiveable sin is unbelief. If a person chooses to be seperated from God, they perish. However, if a person has never heard of God and are seperated not by choice but lack of knowledge then I believe they are judged differently. Christ did charge his followers to spread word throughout the lands. If there are people who have never been exposed to the Word it's not their fault, it's ours.

As there is one Church only, the Church that has Jesus as her head and a body formed by his brothers and sisters, I really can't understand those "tele" evangelists' claims. Salvation is guaranteed when God's grace is answered by your faith and when this faith leads you to live in the sincere intent of imitating Christ. As one of Jesus' disciples you'll serve God belonging to fellowship of believers, also called a "local church". Then only important thing about which you choose is whether this church has a sincere committment with Jesus' teachings and reflects his love by the quality of relationship among its members and in its relation with the poor and the sinners. That's what matters!
