I know what a great country I live in. I appreciate all of the freedoms. But,some of our elected officials fail to do one very important thing which is the will of the people. I see how much we are hated all around the world and as it is there it is here,the elected or self imposed officials do not exercise the will of the people. In the U.S. the people seem to be busy doing other things. In other parts of the world they pray they'll see another day. They are immediately affected by events. We are not and there is a disconnect somewhere here. If the people understood the power we actually have, we'd make damn sure the will of the people was done here. Maybe in a fundamental way we just don't get it. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

The US was intended to be government "by the people, for the people." We have allowed our power to be taken from us and only we can take it back. It starts with electing statesmen rather than politicians. We must also hold elected officials accountable when they don't do the will of we the people. There are processes such as impeachment as well as refusing to vote such people back into office. Unfortunately, today it's more about party politics than it is about America.
Side note: I'm not as concerned about world opinion considering the vast corruption and human rights violations seen elsewhere... that said, if we returned to Constitutional governance and accountability, most of our problems would be solved.

You are so right. I hear people saying things all the time about how "we" are everywhere but here taking care of our own. How upset they are that our President has this attitude of spreading DEMOCRACY no matter who he has to KILL. Yet there he is, no impeachment. I hope many people see what you had to say. Maybe they will get it. I know I do. It seems "the people" have lost sight of what we can do.

The US was designed to be run by the elected officials. That is it. We elect officials based on what they believe in and the way we think they will lead, then the running of the country is up to them. It is impossible for everyone to run the country at the same time...
