Oddly specific smells (nothing gross)

In one of the women's bathrooms in my office (I swear it's nothing gross) there is this air freshener that I swear smells like the left over milk after you've eaten a bowl of Trix, so the milk is all fruity. (See I told you nothing gross!). The first day I smelled this I came out and was like "why does that bathroom smell like fruity milk?" so everyone else wanted to smell it too. I'm not sure what the scent is, but it's definitely fruity milk. Also, when you're driving along this certain part of New Jersey on the Turnpike (It's around the Cherry Hill area) I swear on my life that it smells like a Tuna fish sandwich on toasted bread. Does anyone else ever smell things in the atmosphere that have an oddly specific smell and isn't really what it smells like (like yankee candles or something, of course an apple scented candle will smell like apples!)

My husband and I were walking our dog the other day and I kept smelling something that I couldn't quite figure out. You know that sickly clean smell you smell in doctor and dentist offices? That's what it smelled like. With a hint of the tropical punch grit that dentists use to clean your teeth. I smelled something the other day and now I can't remember what. It was weird though and my husband couldn't smell it. Oh I know!! It smelled like mashed potatoes outside. We get into discussions all the time about what to call everyday smells. You know, like water smells like water. He thinks it doesn't have a smell, but it does. It's water. A water smell. Fire and burning smell like burn. Do you ever think about it like that?

YES! That's it exactly! I always smell things and I'm like.. "it's some weird specific smell that no one else gets but me". I've only found one other person who agreed with me on the tuna on toast jersey smell. I have a lot of jersey friends. It's crazy. But yeah... I definitely think water has a smell and Fire smells like burn! crayons...they totally smell like crayons!

Finally! I have met someone else with a nose and mind like mine. It's nice to know I'm not alone.:)

Ha Ha you're definitely not alone. I'm real weird about smells in general. I responded to a discussion on here about the worst smell ever. My top 3 were Vanilla, Pickles and Baby Powder.
