I noticed that everytime i debate with a christian, they use the bible as a refrence to their beliefs... now, this would be good if the bible wasnt proven to have been changed and translated so many times.. king david changed all of it. anyway, do you think the bible is a good refrence? do you use it in debates?

The Bible is "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth". It the manual given to us by God on how to live our lives but more importantly how to receive Salvation through the Shed Blood of Jesus, the Son and the Image of God. Where we spend eternity is of more importance than our very short lives on earth. The Bible is true, accurate and the most important Book ever written. You can trust it. It has not been changed, the translations are very much alike as long as they acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of man. King David changed nothing, he wrote much of the Psalms. You certainly should use the Bible as a reference but more importantly, use it for your own life.

Yes. Jesus Himself said that He and the Father were one. He also said that before Abraham was, I am, which is what God called Himself when He called Moses at the burning bush. Jesus was God made flesh. He is the Incarnate God. If you want to know what God looks like, look at Jesus. God is a Spirit, Jesus is the only person of the Trinity with scars on His Hands and Feet. So, He was either a lunatic, liar, or Who He said He was: God.

the bible is a symbol and has a lot of keys and moral principles that those who believe in it follow. But i don't think it can be used as a History book at all. It's more than proven that many of it's historical references are not precise, when not directly false. With this i'm not saying that the bible is useless at all. It is, but not as a History book...it's a religious book that gathers a number of principles and therein lies it's utility.

You know those T.V. movies that say they are "based on a true story"? I think of the Bible like that. There are many things that were written into the Bible that are based on a true story but they may not be a true play by play account of the story. Poetic license has been taken.

You are dealing with records of people who lived 2000 to 4000 years ago. Surely, Bible contains a lot of good reference about people who lived at that time. Even for a decent Jewish person, the stories sound so far distant in the past. One is so removed in time, it is almost incredible to ascend to their stories. What should I expect from a history of the people who lived in so distant past.
