I am at least fortunate because my mother-in-law is several miles away; she lives in Hawaii, and I am here in the Philippines, and we have very little contact. But this July, she is coming home to visit; but 'home' is also in another island, in Cagayan de Oro City, while my family is in the Visayas. But my MIL is quiet good, she does not have hang ups, nor she is manipulative. She loves my husband much, and she showers him with gifts which she brings along from Hawaii. So my husband, is the one who meets her in Cag de Oro, and I'm not sure whether I'm going there to see her, although it would be better thing to do; I could not just ignore her presence. I have no misgivings with her as we are fine...so I count myself lucky because I have a mom-in-law who I don't really see often, and if ever, we are fond of each other so....I'm fine with in-laws including sibling-in-laws, they are not here, too.

theres a curse on the d/i/l and m/i/l relationship u know. i find in every culture this type of fight between the two exists, maybe its the possessiveness of their son or husband which brings about this kind of war against them

My mother in law told me one week before I married her son that she thought taht I was a harlot and that she did not wish for my son to marry me. His father told me the same. After the wedding they told me that they forgive me for everything that I did to them. They have never said that they are sorry. Now they want me to be chummy with them. But its always in the back of my mind how they treated me. Hs sister is also mean. I have told my husband if this girl was not his sister I would have nothing to do with her. She is very girlie and I am a tom boy! I hate window shopping. I go in by whatever I need and walk out.
