Recently I discovered a writer. He is not a new one, but he is new to me. I have read three books now, Kafka on the beach was my first. His writing is philosophical, dreamy, alienating and yet so very realistic. He is japanees, a totally difficult culture, you should think. But he writes about peoples inner struggle and it looks like the struggle in Japan is no different from the struggle in the Netherlands. The loneliness, the difficulty of making real contact with another human being. He is cruel and tender at the same time. So I have found a new favorite writer. Other books I read so far. Sputnik Sweetheart and After Dark. And there is stil a lot to go. Kafka on the beach is a real topic. But if you want to start Try Sputnik Sweatheart. And if he catches you, then you must read Kafka on the beach.

The first book I've read is 'Dance, Dance, Dance'; the surreal nature of the book made my head spin and I didn't put it down until I've finished it. Of course, what made me fall in love with him after 'Dance, Dance, Dance' is the short story 'On Seeing The 100% Perfect Girl on Beautiful April Morning' when I was looking up information about him. The bittersweet story left a strong impact upon me which made me want to read more of his works.
