Credit Cards are they good or bad ?

Recently,particularly in India there is a raging debate going on regarding Credit Cards, as to whether they are good for customers,some customers have claimed that they have been cheated by the credit card companies through excess billing and Interest rates of 30 to 35% when the interest rate in the open market is much less than that. I am also a credit user,and I have a fairly good track record with my Credit card,what is your opinion is credit card good or bad
