The amount of time kids spend online is a source of frustration for many parents.Initially, parents welcomed the Internet into their homes because they believed the Web opened an exciting new world of educational opportunities for their children. However, many parents soon realized that their kids didnt use the Internet for homework or research.Instead , their kids spent hours instant messaging with friends, played online games , or talked to strangers in chat rooms. To maintain a healthy balance between entertainment media and other activities in their children's lives has always been a challenge for parents. The Internet has made this challenge even more difficult.Internet communications and interactive games engage some children so deeply many lose track of time when they're online.

i have my grand daughter who is 6 years old and knows how to play games in pc and online games in the net. i taughther how to use the pc when she wasstill5 years old. as a grandparent i am proud that she knows at an early age about computers. lately i realized that she has been playing online games for 2 to 3 hoursand i find it not anymore healthy and correct to stay in front of the computer for longer hours.so i started disciplining her by limiting the number of hours she spends online.i am glad she is following my advice. the parents or guardians of children should be aware of the DO's and DONT's about usage of coomputer and the internet in particular. they should continuously monitor the surfing activities of their kids.

I love the Internet. It makes everything so convenient but it is true, my generation does spend more time online and it is not necessarily a good thing. America's obesity problem is a result of this new form of media that takes away from time we should be spending doing more physically engaging activities.
