Lawn Weeds - Killing lawn weeds

Thanks to a neighbor, I've found a great new way to kill weeds around my home. I especially have a lot of Virginia Creeper around my yard that just invades everything!..I also have a cat that goes outdoors, so I have to be very careful about what I use that he may walk through, and therefore ingest. But thanks to a neighbor of mine, I've been using a safe weed killer now. Just take a gallon of vinegar, 1 cup of salt, and a few drops of regular dish soap. Put into a spray bottle. Spray this on your weeds and it wll kill them...you may have to spray them a couple of times to get everything, but it's great and I don't have to worry about pesticides (which I hate to use) and I don't have to worry about my cat getting into it. Another good thing about it is that it's very inexpensive to use, which is important to me! I usually spray them down early in the morning so that the ingredients along with the heat of the day will work on the weeds. Try it and let me know how it works for you!

This sounds like such a great idea but how would you buy a gallon of vinegar, isn't that an awful lot, like how many bottles would that be, I am going to try this thanks a lot.

Sounds good. I will have to give it a try. The weeds here just drive me to distraction. I will also try it when I get home - we have several animals that need to be protected. thanks for the information.

you're welcome!...i've got so much here that it drives me crazy too, but because of the price of the pesticides and the fact that i have not only my cat but a lot of wildlife around that i don't want harmed, i've been just living with it up till now...hope this works well for you

Oh wow! Thank you I shall try that. We live in a block of flats and out of the four gardens, ours was the only cultivated one. We finally got so fed up that we negotiated with everyone else and we are in the process of the turning the gardens into a nice place to be, but the weeds, having had the upper hand for so long, are winning at the moment. A few drops of rain and we have a trainee jungle. We have a lot of wildlife in our garden and we would not want to harm them, which is why we have not used anything nasty either.

Do I have to worry about it killing the grass where I spray it also? I have a couple of small dogs and 7 kids that I worry about using those harsh chemicals in the yard too. So, I walk around pulling those darn weeds. If the spray does not hurt the grass, I will soooo have to try it!!!

Wow! I haven't heard of this before and definitely want to try it. I have a cat too, so this is the perfect solution. I have a creeper that I have tried to kill off and it just won't die, I will have to see if this will work on it. Thanks for this information.
