I would know if my BP is high because I suffer headaches early in the morning...there were at least 2-3 times that I had a high blood pressure; I ask my daughter-nurse to check my pressure everytime I wake up dizzy and with headache, and often my pressure is 150/90; my normal pressure is 120/80...But more often than not, my pressure is normal except for days when I am stressed out that I have to rest in order to bring down my BP. I have started to cut on rice and any foods high in cholesterol to prevent hypertension, which fortunately I don't have yet at the moment...

Like you I thought I would never face blood pressure problems. Oh how wrong I was. I have a friend who is a nurse. The bank I was using in the USA had her in there one day taking blood pressures for their customers. I had been out of the country for 4 months and hadn't seen her - so my daughter told me - "Go to the bank and get your blood pressure taken that way you can see her and let her know you are home." I did - and guess what - even though I had not had one single symptom my Blood Pressure was through the roof. My friend looked at me very seriously and told me to make an appointment with the Doctor. I did - and the day I went to the Doctor it was even higher - so high innfact that they gave me medicine right away and kept me there until it had gone down quite a bit. I was a stroke waiting to happen. I was sent for tests for my cholesterol - it was high too. So for the past 10 years I have been on blood pressure and cholesterol medicine. I take Norvasc and Lipitor daily.

I never had any blood pressure problems until my third pregnancy. I started out the pregnancy with my blood pressure plummetting suddenly and had to take it easy and I was encouraged to eat salty foods when I was craving them because my pressure was so low. In my 7th month, everything changed and I ended up with pre-eclampsia and my blood pressure surged up. After I had the baby, my blood pressure took 6 months to really come back down. Currently it is about 117/74.
