Do you ever feel you are being judged because of your age?

I’ve read a lot of discussions in which age seems to play an integral part. I often feel that people don’t take me seriously, particularly in my long term relationship because of my age. I think it’s pretty unfair and I would like to hear of others experiences with judgement and age.

I don't judge maturity based on age. I often encountered older people behaved or thought like children. But I also found that younger people had more mature than their peers or older people. Maturity depends on many factors (i.e., their mentalities, minds, upbringing, psychological thing, environment, etc).

I'm 18, Married, yep, get it all the time, every damn day, it never stops. But the way i see it, i know who i am and what i want, i do what works for me and makes me happy, so weather or not they want to judge, it doesn't matter to me. this is my life, screw them. relationships are one of the biggest parts of a persons life, and age doesn't define love or the understanding of it. just go with your heart, don't worry about others judgment, in the end, it doesn't matter anyway.

Well Linz, I hope I never do that, because I honestly think that age is just a number, and maturity has nothing to do with your date of bith. I know people of 18 and 19 who are in long-standing, mature relationships, often with children, and equally I know people in their 40's and older who flit from partner to partner, and never want to settle down. So I think it is unfair if people judge you because of your age too! They should be looking at the person inside, not the Birth Certificate!! Take care.

No. I wrote a discussion awhile back that mylot was good for being accepted and that age wasn't seen in a wrong light. More of my friends here are older :) Generally I get on with everyone and have been judged for my age. (well not here) ~Joey

I know how you're feeling linz, trust me. Experience is an important factor, and only age brings you that, but common sense, sensitivity and intelligence don't come with age and you can have them, of course. I think it's just a prejudice like any other...don't pay attention to it hon.
