Favorite 80's music?

Who were your favorite alternative music bands during the 1980's. I liked Fine young cannibals and REM (sometimes.)
The amazing thing about REM is that I never liked their stuff when it first came out, except, "Fall on me, (I think that was the name of the song). Course at the time I was going through my early pre-teen years, and couldn't relate to any of it.
But, now twenty years later, it's as if that stuff was written for me.
How did they now?
So who are your favorites from the 1980's?

I was born in 1982 so I dont remmeber that many bands BUT I do remember loving to listen to Madonna, I loved all her songs especially Material Girl or Papa Dont Preach,
OMG! I cannot forget New Kids On The Block..I was obsessed with them, I had everything they ever came out with. When I was younger I swore I was gonna marry Jordan Knight and sometimes I still think that LOL! Their my all time favorite band

That is too funny! Yea after they all went their seperate ways and everyone forgot about them Jordan Knight came out with his album not too long ago and girl WE BOTH were the only two who bought the album LMAO! When I saw his video I was like OMG...hes back and were gonna get married :)
