I went to this school. I can say that the facilities are better than the other engineering schools but the quality of teaching?? I really don't know. MIT claims that it is the best engineering school, maybe before but now??? i don't think so....

This is a sad piece of news. Is this true? I used to love MIT because my father came from that school and during his time, it was really the best engineering school in the country. What happened? Just a thought: my husband also came from an engineering school that was once reputed for its quality. Now that school is no longer very good either. Maybe the general quality of schools in the country is really deteriorating

What happened? Well, since the yuchengco's took over the school became a mess. It started with the quarterm, then the increase of the tuition fees and lastly the changing of the school name (Malayan Colleges).

Oh my goodness I must have been living under a rock not to have known that. That is so so so sad. I don't think Mapua will ever be the same. Makes me want to grieve. huhuhu

I think i really believe in what you have said, maybe its about time to return it to its former system. in this way it might return its reputation as the best engineering school in the Philippines.

there would be no best school, hence the reflection of school came from its students.

I would have to agree. i am a mapuan and during the time i was there, that was year 2002 when they implemented quarterm then the next thing i know they wanted to change the name. And now mit is no longer focused as an engineering school but a university that has lots of courses. Plus, a nursing school as well?!? how weird is that? from a sole engineering school to a nursing school too..i feel that they just following the trend of courses since they know a lot of high school graduate would be in nursing school.

I think the quality went down too... They need faculty... I hope some of our great alumni would consider teaching... para tumaas uli ang quality

The school is nice but the tuition fees and quarterm system really hastens up your learning process temporarily but after that your going to forget virtually most of what you have learned.
