how much do you usually tip a waiter when u go to a restaurant.......do u tip handsomely or do u think that they are just doing their job and need not be tipped. I usually go for 5-10% of the billed amount when the amount is decent and a bit less when the the bill gets heavy... how about u!!!

here in SIngapore, i guess most of us are not used to tipping the service staff at restaurants. this is because we have to pay 10% of our bill as a service charge, and most of us are in the mentality that if we are already paying extra for a service charge, then there is no need to tip the service staff at all! but i do try to make it a point to give the service staff some small tips, especially if they have been especially efficient and courteous and helpful!

Servers get paid only $2 an hour at the most! So when people don't tip them, they cannot pay for rent, food, and provisions for their children. It doesn't matter if you disliked the food or if it was poor quality - if the SERVICE and his/her ATTITUDE were good, they need to be tipped.

I dnt understand the tipping thing its not something we do in Australia. Some restaurants and cafes have a tip jar at the counter, which i think most people chuck in there their coins from their change. Id be so scared to go to America as i would never know who im supposed to tip and who im not.
