Do you make excuses to get away from your family?

We have a guy building our house and he hates being with his family. He is here every day of the week, rain or shine, even when there is nothing for him to do, just to get away from them. He tells his wife he has to work, then comes here and does little stuff like haul dirt or pull weeds, which we aren´t even paying him for! Today, he showed up, although we have no materials for him to work with and brought a tree to plant! And now he is nailing things into the wall, I´m not even sure what. Do you do stuff like this to get away from your family? I would never be able to fake working just to leave my husband and sons!

To get away from my parents, yes, even to this day at age 35, I'd do it. To my immediate family of (well currently just spouse), no. Not a chance. If it gets to that point we need some counselling!

yes, i always make an excuse to get away from my family.. like last month i told my mom that we have a school activity for 3 days and we're not allowed to go home just to avoid my relatives who always critisized me... and it really pissed me off.

That is really sad. I often wonder why people stay in relationships when they aren't happy. I guess each to their own. My hubby and I spend our free time together and actually enjoy it. I guess that is natural when you are with your best friend.
