It is way too hot to cook inside...

I am grilling hamburgers. Tomorrow night I will probably grill hotdogs and brats. It is way too hot to cook inside and I am going to have to use the grill outside so I don't heat up my house so much. I have an eye on the side of my grill so I should be able to cook most anything. I need more suggestions on what to fix on the grill. Not expensive, please, because I am a very frugal person. But any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Last year we would cut up potatoes, onions, green peppers into small chunks. Pull out a sheet of foil and put them in the middle and drizzle with some olive oil or a little butter and season. Place another sheet of foil over top and fold the two together to seal it. I forget how long we would leave it on the grill - long enough for the potatoes to become soft - about 30-40 minutes. It was really good! My husband just bought the Cooks Illustrated Grilling Cook Book (from Americans Test Kitchen)

Do the same with your burgers, dice up green pepper and onion and cover top of burger. Individually wrap each burger and cook on the grill, you'll be amazed at how flavorful your burger is!

What about putting veggies in some tin foil and cooking them. Veggies such as zucchini, squash, asparagus, okra. I've tried all of these and they are very good.

I sometimes just cut up some vegetables add olive oil with herbs and put in tin foil and cook for about 20 to 30 mins. I would serve it with grill chicken.

That sounds good! It is hot here today too. Cooking out is a good idea. I got lucky tonight and my daughter is fixing us burritos. So we are having a mexican dinner tonight. I hope this heatwave breaks soon. I'm even hot with the air conditioner on.

We have been cooking easy things that wont take forever becuase I am too HOT and Lazy to sit in the sun and grill, LOL. We have had boneless skinless chicken, porkchops, hotdogs, hamburgers, keilbaska, and pop opens. I have just been rotating them and trying different marinades and stuff. LOL. I have also been cooking corn and potatoes on the grill. Or making salads. Or even doing baked potatoes in my crockpot. I also have been making different summer salads in the morning when it is sort of cool and then putting them in the fridge til dinner. I hope this helps

Well Hot Sausage sandwiches with onions & peppers is always a good meal on the grill. Smoked sausages are good to on a roll with some kaurt. Plus corn on the cob roasted on the grill. Umm butter it up, with salt & pepper, and wrap it in foil. You could even do a meatloaf on the grill. That is on my menu this week. I will make the meatloaf with all the ingrediants that I always use. I will then wrap it in foil, and when it is almost done. I will unwrap it, and add the tomato paste to the top, and wrap it loosely, heat it for about 10 minutes, and it's done. Have baked potatoe's with it, or even rice made in the microwave. I can find many ways to cook in my kitchen, without using my stove. Lol all winter I tried not to use my stove to save on cooking gas. I find the summer never works with you when it comes to BBQing.
