What's the strangest thing you almost named your baby?

Hold onto your seats, here it is! Try this name on for size. Independence! Yes, I actually thought about naming my kiddo Independence. No joke. Turns out I didn't need to name her Independence, because she just is that way without help from a name. We went through hundreds of names, and tons of name spelling variations. I passed on Marigold and Maribelle, but it was a close call. And, I almost called her Hannah. Imagine that. Her first name came to me out of the blue while I was talking to my husband on the phone. He asked me, "What do you want to call her?" And, I just blurted out the most feminine name I could remember. And, he said he'd been thinking of it too. So that settled the issue. It took longer to come up with her middle name. It sort of popped in my mind a few months before she was born, while I was watching TV. And, I knew the second it happened that my baby name search was over. So, what names did you almost call your baby? Which names almost made the cut? Did your husband or partner come up with some whoppers that you shot down immediately? You've heard mine. Please share yours!

We agreed pretty early on that we were going to name our son Elliott Michael, and that's what we named him. I had a dream twice the week before he was born, that when he was born, I decided to name him Evan Douglas. But my husband doesn't like the name Evan, so it was really out. We picked Abigail Mae for a girl, and we will probably use it if we do have a little girl in the future. I really liked the name Acadia for a girl, too, but my husband told me it was a terrible name! I wanted to name my baby Acadia and call her Catie, though, but luckily he was a boy.

Robin is the strangest name. Although I must admit it suits alot of people. For me I am so glad I didn't call my daughter Robin because ever time I hear the name or say the name I think of the song Robin in the rain, what a saucy fella, Robin in the rain.... I forget the rest of the words to the song! LOL

Nothing too strange here. My maiden name was Clifton so I tried hard to work that in somehow but it just never worked. I really wanted to love it as a first name and it just never grew on me. Once we chose the name we went with I just couldn't fall in love with it as a middle name either.

I actually have a strange, or perhaps a rather unusual name myself. So I really like different names. Unfortunately my husband's name is Mike and he really likes boring names. So our son didn't get anything crazy, although I did search the internet hoping to find one that he would like. My brother, on the other hand, did choose some crazy names for his girls. Their names are Justice and Liberty. We always joked that if he ever had a boy, he would have to name him Forall! :)

Eskarena and Jenniveve - I cant imagine them being called anything else now
I really like Indipendence for a name, it is a little more suited than what our eldest would have been called if she had the misfortune of being a male. The poor kid would have been either Drum Billet or Rinsewind. Luckily for her she was a girl so we blessed her with Eskarena. Her sister was always going to be Jenniveve. However, my father in law, as a result of family heritage wanted her to be called Maudichia. We had to be strong and chose Jenniveve. We stuck with them and couldnt imagine them being anything else now. Isnt it strange how kids grow in to their names?
